چکیده

A magnetic field tunable, broadband, low-loss, negative refractive index metamaterial is fabricated using yttrium iron garnet (YIG) and a periodic array of copper wires. The tunability is demonstrated from 18 to 23GHz under an applied magnetic field with a figure of merit of 4.2GHz/kOe. The tuning bandwidth is measured to be 5GHz compared to 0.9GHz for fixed field. We measure a minimum insertion loss of 4 dB (or 5.7 dB/cm) at 22.3GHz. The measured negative refractive index bandwidth is 0.9GHz compared to 0.5GHz calculated by the transfer function matrix theory and 1GHz calculated by finite element simulation. r 2007 Published by Elsevier B.V. Synthesis of Iron Yttrium Garnet Nanoparticles by Reverse Microemulsion Method

Colloidal nanodispersion of Iron Yttrium Garnet has been preparedbymixing the two ternary mixture of Triton X-100 (surfactant), n-heptane and aqueous solution that differing only in the aqueous phase.Ethanolwas added as cosurfactant and mixed them by ultrasound bath. By mixing these twomicroemulsions, Iron Yttrium garnet (Y3 Fe5 O12) nanodispersionwas obtained. Solids were settled by centrifuge...

Dual-tunable hybrid wave ferrite-ferroelectric microwave resonator

A novel electric and magnetic field tunable microwave resonator with a yttrium iron garnet and barium strontium titanate layered structure is investigated. The measured characteristics at 3.6 GHz, corresponding to the proximity of magnetic and dielectric resonance modes, show a broadband electrical tunability. A tuning range of 1.5% of the central resonance frequency is obtained for nominal ele...

Enhanced spin Seebeck effect signal due to spin-momentum locked topological surface states.

Spin-momentum locking in protected surface states enables efficient electrical detection of magnon decay at a magnetic-insulator/topological-insulator heterojunction. Here we demonstrate this property using the spin Seebeck effect (SSE), that is, measuring the transverse thermoelectric response to a temperature gradient across a thin film of yttrium iron garnet, an insulating ferrimagnet, and f...

Fabrication and Characterization of Y 3 . 0 - X La X Fe 5 O 12 - PVA Composite as EM Waves Detector

This is our initial response towards fabricating a magnetic filled polymer composite samples potentially used as electromagnetic waves detector. Samples of lanthanum yttrium iron garnet Y3.0-XLaXFe5O12 (where x = 0, 0.5 ,1.0, 1.5 , 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 ) were synthesized by conventional solid state technique. We used simple casting technique to fabricate the Y3.0XLaXFe5O12-PVA composite. The samples w...

Magneto-optical Kerr effects of yttrium-iron garnet thin films incorporating gold nanoparticles.

We report an experimental study on magneto-optical (MO) Kerr effects of yttrium-iron garnet (YIG) thin films incorporating Au nanoparticles. The polar MO Kerr spectra in the wavelength between 400 and 800 nm show that, by incorporating the Au nanoparticles, Kerr rotation angles become negative values in the region, where the localized surface plasmon polariton (SPP) resonance of the Au nanopart...
